POLAR WINS WORK ON HOSPITAL REFURBISHMENTS

< back to news list

A number of significant NHS and private sector healthcare projects have been keeping Polar busy during recent months. After completing a project for Newcastle’s Nuffield Hospital, through contractor Stephen Easton, which entailed the hospital remaining open for normal admissions while the window refurbishment was going on, Polar has also begun a major refurbishment project at the extensive Washington Galleries through Laing O’Rourke, which will see (between December 2008 and April 2009) the replacement of more than 300 windows with thermally efficient versions, dramatically enhancing the building’s performance.

In addition, Polar’s teams have just started on site at Middlesbrough’s James Cook Hospital, working for Carillion on Phase 1 of a two-phase project, through until April 2009, which also entails the replacement of a significant number of windows in what will be a major refurbishment. The company is also working on a new build healthcare project through Laing O’Rourke in Hebburn, on the Gateshead and South Tyneside PCT Assessment Unit.
