Polar News, Winter 2006 (Accounts Team)

< back to news list

2006 saw Polar take a major step in cost control and monitoring with the introduction of a computerised contract costing system. The system enables the company to monitor costs, both material and labour, against a budget for individual contracts. In time the system will undoubtedly help not only in the control of costs but also as a tool to help the pricing of contracts at the tender stage.

The new software inevitably lead to some initial teething problems as staff came to terms with the system and the associated changes in procedures, but four months in and the system is working well and the company is already seeing some early benefits. Congratulations and thanks to all those involved in the system's introduction.
