Polar News, Winter 2006 (Building on Success)

< back to news list

The Polar year, ending November 2006, proved to be another record year for us where we achieved a “First” in four very important areas.

1 – We completed our heaviest summer programme ever, working in 77 different Schools.

2 – We enjoyed the biggest turnover month in our history at just over £600,000 during August.

3 – We worked on 195 Schools projects in 12 months, an average of over 16 Schools per month.

4 – We achieved our strongest profitable annual turnover to date at almost £4.3m.

Our number one objective for the 2006 year was to work smarter and cut out those unnecessary costs from our business, allowing us to be more competitive and enjoy better margins to develop the profitable growth of the business. We have made good headway with this task and this is reflected in our successful year, but, there are still areas where we need to improve our performance, which we will concentrate on during 2007.

Looking forward to 2007. The Polar order book is at a record high with a healthy spread of existing and new client business covering both refurbishment and new build contracts predominantly in the areas of education and health. In addition, we have a wealth of projects under client consideration for completion during 2007 and beyond.

The development of our client base has seen an increased demand on our flexibility as a business. The need to accommodate and integrate new major customer systems with our own has been another positive learning curve for us all and a credit to all members of the Polar team who grasped the challenge. 2006 has seen the introduction of 44 clients spread between local authorities, builders and construction, all working with Polar for the first time and all of them in a position to put more work in our direction. This gives great credit to the good reputation of Polar as our company continues to grow in all areas thanks to the attitude and work ethic of its loyal employees and the determination to remain number one in our industry for “Quality Care and Commitment” a mission statement that can only continue with your support.
